Wisconsin Breweries History: Miller Brewing Company
Miller Brewing Company was founded in 1855 when German immigrant Frederick Miller
acquired the famous Plank Road brewery from Frederick Best.
Since then, Miller Brewing has grown from a small local
brewer to the second largest brewery in the U.S., with seven major breweries
located across America.
Miller High Life was introduced in 1903, and as such is the oldest brand in the Miller Lineup. The Plank Road Brewery as a division of Miller Brewing produces micro-styled beers such as Icehouse, Northstone Amber, Southpaw and Red Dog. The American Specialty & Craft Beer Company is Miller's subsidiary for recently-acquired breweries such as the Celis Brewery in Texas, the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin, and the Shipyard Brewery in Portland Maine. |
