Virginia Breweries History:

The Steamship Brewing Company located in Norfolk opened in 1995, and began distributing its beers in 1996. They produced Captains Lager and Raspberry Ale. The shipyard beers were available in kegs and 12-ounce bottles in Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland. The Shipyard brewery was located just north of the Ghent area, "on the other side of the tracks" in an old industrial section of town. Steamship Brewing is now closed.
