Vermont Breweries History: Long Trail Ales
The Long Trail Brewing Company began brewing in 1989 in the basement of the old Bridgewater Woolen Mill on the Ottaquechee River in Vermont's Green Mountains. By 1995 Long Trail Ales had outgrown the mill and a new state-of-the-art brewery was built in a Riverside hayfield. Interesting Fact: Long Trail Brewing Company uses its Spent Mash" or "Brewers Grains" as Cattle Feed. Long Trail currently produce over 8 tons of Spent Mash a day. It's high in protein, fiber, and contains almost as much energy as Corn silage. Traditional Feeds such as corn or soybean meal can cost over 10 times as much as the "Spent Mash", and the cows love it! |
