Oregon Breweries History: Mount Angel Brewing
Mt. Angel Brewing Company is 7,500 sq. ft. Bavarian/Barbecue
theme restaurant and Microbrewery located in Mt. Angel, Oregon.
Mt. Angel Brewing Company is a pleasant drive through the country off
the Woodburn Exit on I-5. Mt. Angel is approximately 40 minutes south
of Portland, Oregon. Mt. Angel is a quaint Bavarian town, home to the
world famous Oktoberfest held each September. Thousands throng to Mt.
Angel Brewing Company to enjoy their world class facilities and great
food at reasonable prices.
Mt. Angel Brewing Company was founded by the Traeger family
who also manufacture commercial barbecues and smokers, heating and
ventilating equipment and pellet-fired outdoor products. Constructed in
1911, Mt. Angel Brewery and Restaurant once served as a bagged
potato warehouse, a baled hop warehouse, and a feed & seed co-op.
The building was the central "hub" of Mt. Angel during the 30's and
40's, and served as headquarters for the "Flax Festival," precursor
to the current "Oktoberfest."
When the historic structure was purchased by Traeger Industries
in 1995, it required significant renovation. The Traeger family
accomplished the extensive remodel with their own labor in six months.
The renovation began in January, 1995 and was completed in July, 1995.
