Missouri Breweries History: Boulevard Brewing Company
The Boulevard story begins in 1988, when founder John McDonald
gained the support of local investors and friends to start the brewery
in an historic district of Kansas City, Missouri. The site was a
turn-of-the-century building which had originally housed the laundry
of the Santa Fe Railroad. Along with their flagship Pale Ale, Boulevard
offers Unfiltered Wheat Beer, Dry Stout, Bully! Porter, and the seasonal
beers Irish Ale, Bob's '47 Munich-Style Lager Nutcracker Ale and ZÔN.
In 2002, Boulevard Brewing Company will sell over 60,000 barrels
of beer, equivalent to more than 20 million 12 ounce servings. While nearly
half of Boulevard's sales come from within a fifty mile radius of Kansas City,
the popularity of its beers has grown rapidly throughout the Midwest. From small
towns to large cities, Boulevard beers have become favorites, known for their
full flavor, distinctive hop characteristics, and unsurpassed quality.
