Michigan Breweries History: C. Pfeiffer Brewing Company
Started in 1889 as Conrad Pfeiffer and became the Pfeiffer
Brewing Company in 1902.
Associated Brewing Company was formed from the merger of Pfeiffer
Brewing Co. & E&B Brewing Company. Each of these had earlier purchased
other regional breweries and the result was a company that brewed & sold
products under various regional brand and brewery names. The Associated
Brewing Company was made up of the following breweries: Bavarian Brewing
Company, Drewrys Ltd., E & B Brewing Company, Frankenmuth Brewing Company,
North Star Brewing Company, Old Dutch Brewing Company, Pfeiffer Brewing
Company, Jacob Schmidt Brewing Company, Piel Bros., Inc, Hampden/Harvard
Brewing Company, Sterling Brewers, Inc., Ph. Kling Brewery(formaly Daily
Brewery).
The Associated Brewing Company was closed 1972 and the Pfeiffer
name was sold to G. Heileman Brewing Company of La Crosse Wisconsin.
In 1996 Stroh brewery purchased Heileman and discontinued the Pfeiffer
brand. In 1999 Miller brewing purchased Stroh and the rights to its brands
which were then aquired by Pabst brewing..
