Louisiana Breweries History: Tujagues Restaurant

Tujague's is the 2nd oldest restaurant in New Orleans having opened in the 1850's. Tujagues Restaurant was in existence before "New Orleans" even bore its name, and having served as a Spanish armory, Tujague’s restaurant has survived decades of war, depression, fire and plague. It is located in the heart of the french quarter, facing the historic french market.

New Orleans was founded in 1719. The name "New Orleans" comes from the orginal name "La Nouvelle Orléans"which is the proper name of the city. Americans, who bought the colony in 1803 gave it an anglised name but they did that long before Tujagues open its door.

The Tujagues Restaurant Beer was brewed and bottled by the Acadian Brewing Company which was located in New Orleans Louisiana and went out of business in 2002.
