Louisiana Breweries History: Coy International Corporation
Coy International Corporation brewed its first beers without
owning a brewery. Coy contracted with the Old
Fort Brewing Company located in Prince George British Columbia to
brew some of its beer. The beer was then imported into the US
by Neal W Kaye Inc. out of New Orleans, LA.
In 1983, Coy purchased the 76 year old Dixie Brewing
Company of New Orleans. Brewing of Coy brands was to be moved to the
Dixie brewery. The Dixie brewery however was struggling with
large financial problems and losing market share. There had been a
brewing problem for awhile and most of Dixie's customers left
Dixie for other beers because of the poor quality of the beer.
Coy International Corporation closed on 12/31/84.
