European Breweries History: Hacker-Pschorr
The history of the Hacker-Pschorr Brewery can be traced back as far
as 1417. It was founded in Munich, the capital of Bavaria and the world's
"Cradle of the Art of Brewing." Georg Pschorr (1798-1867) was Munich's
biggest entrepreneur and the patriarch of the Pschorr brewing dynasty.
He was renown throughout Germany, Europe and the world as a "pillar"
of the brewing industry and is reputed as the authenticator of the
traditional Bavarian Weisse Bier brewing style.
All of Hacker-Pschorr beers are brewed as they have been for
well over 500 years, strictly adhering to the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of
1516, which mandates that beer can only be made of four ingredients:
malted barley, hops, yeast and water.
