California Breweries History: Jefferson State Brewery

Jefferson State Brewery in Crescent City California was named for a state that would have consisted of several counties of northern California and southern Oregon had the second world war not interfered. Jefferson was planned to be formed by counties disenchanted with their respective state governments.

Jefferson State Brewery opened in 1998 in downtown Crescent City California, the county seat of Del Norte, approximately 358 miles north of San Francisco and 20 miles south of the Oregon border. Jefferson State Brewery closed in 2000.
