California Breweries History: Acme Brewing Company
The Acme Brewing Company of Macon, Ga., began as the Macon
Brewing Company in 1889 and was located at Bay & Hammond Streets.
The Acme name was used from 1893 until 1916 when prohibition came to
Georgia.
Another Acme Bewing Company was created in the San Francisco Bay Area (Oakland)
after the 1906 earthquake as a branch of the Olympia Brewing Company of Olympia Washington.
The Acme brewery was incorpoarted in 1907. In 1975 the Acme beers became contract beers were
brewed by the General brewing Co in SF and Portland's Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Company.
The Acme Brewery is now part of the North Coast Brewing
Company located in Fort Bragg California. Acme Brewing (North Coast)
brews three brews: Pale Ale, Brown Ale and IPA |
