Mexican Breweries History: Sol Beer - Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma
Spanish for sun, Sol was first brewed in Mexico in 1899. It has a unique clear, long neck bottle packaging with painted on labeling. Sol is a Mexican golden lager beer, with a refreshing taste and smooth, mellow flavor. Sol Beer was acquired by the giant brewer Cerveceria Cuaohtemoc Moctezuma (Moctezuma Brewing Company). Sol Beer is the Pabst Blue Ribbon of Mexican beers. Even with the added expense of importing, six packs of bottled Sol can frequently be found for under $4 (US) in Texas in 2003. |
