European Breweries History: Paulaner Brauerei AG
The Paulaner Brewery, founded by monks in 1634, has played a significant role in establishing Munich's reputation as the "Beer Center of the World." Paulaner Brauerei AG is the leading brewery in Bavaria. The small order of Paulaner monks began its tradition of slow, handcrafted brewing using only the four basic ingredients of brewing: barley, hops, yeast and water. Paulaner strictly adheres to the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516. This law mandates that beer can only be made from four ingredients: malted barley, hops, yeast and water. Paulaner beers contain no preservatives or additives. Even today, the breweries of Munich, and Munich only, are governed by the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law for both domestic and export sales. For this reason, you can be assured that the Paulaner you enjoy in America is the same beer that is enjoyed in Munich. The Paulaner brews include: Hefe-Weizen, Oktoberfest-Märzen, Original Munich Premium Lager, Premium Pils, Salvator, and ThomasBräu. |
