Wisconsin Breweries History: West Bend Lithia Company
The West Bend Lithia Company (named for the lithium salts in the brewing water)
started brewing in the 1850's.
West Bend Lithia was family owned and operated for it's first 80 years.
The West Bend Lithia Brewery was located about 30 miles north of Milwaukee,
Wis. (or about 120 miles north of Chicago).
The West Bend Lithia Company contract brewed "Black Pride" lager for
Black Pride, Inc. back in the 1930's.
The West Bend Lithia Company was closed in 1972 and it's brands
were all sold to the Eau Claire Brewery. Both breweries were part of the
Walter brewery group.
