Canadian Breweries History: Granville Island Brewing
Granville Island Brewing opened their doors in 1984,
in British Columbia with their first released beer: Island Lager.
Granville brews unpasteurized beer similar to the famous German pilsners.
A few years later Granville created Lord Granville Pale Ale, which soon after was
re-christened English Bay Pale Ale, thus beging the tradition of naming Granville
beer after local neighbourhoods.. Granville added more neighbourhoods with Cypress Honey Lager,
Gastown Amber Ale and Kitsilano Maple Cream Ale.
