California Breweries History: Devil Mountain Brewing Company
Devil Mountain started at the original first railroad station in Walnut Creek back in the early 1940's. Vic Stewart's Famous Steakhouse is now there on Broadway. Devil Mountain Brewery was there on Broadway before any other "micro" brewery even started. That guy was was way too ahead of his time. If he was still there today that guy would easily clean up Walnut Creek for brew freak. Lease problems forced them to move to Benicia around 1992, but as luck would have it, a tripling of sewer fees there forced them to close there, too. Now they've moved to Cincinnati OH, ostensibly to "...be strategically located...for better beer distribution". Brews that were brewed by Devil mountain: Devil's Brew (a Robust Porter) • Diablo Gold (American-Style Pale Ale) • Dry Hop Cask Railroad Ale (American-Style Pale Ale) • Oktoberfest (German-Style Märzen/Oktoberfest) • Railroad Ale (American-Style Pale Ale) • See-U-Later (German-Style Strong Doppelbock) |
